Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs was responsible for a pair of smart looking winners on Monday, with the sire enjoying success at both Ayr and Ripon.
Canford Cliffs’gelded son Tomily made it win number eight when making a winning debut for new trainer David O’Meara in the ayrgoldcup.co.uk Handicap at Ayr on Monday.
Under David Nolan, the five-year-old stayed on stoutly to record a length and a quarter victory in Monday’s six furlong contest.
Out of the Acclamation mare Cake, Tomily has now won two in a row, with the gelding having registered a four and a half length romp at Windsor in his penultimate start.
Canford Cliffs also enjoyed success at Ripon on Monday when his daughter Queens Gift scored a convincing win over five furlongs.
The four-year-old made it back to back wins when Queens Gift registered a one length win in the Ripon Cathedral Fillies Handicap in smart fashion.
Winner of all of the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas, G1 St James’s Palace Stakes, G1 Sussex Stakes, G1 Lockinge Stakes and G1 Lockinge Stakes, Canford Cliffs is currently responsible for nearly 30 black type horses with his stars including group winners Cliff’s Edge, Princess Posh, Al Jazi, Most Beautiful, Princess Asta and Painted Cliffs, as well as impressive recent Listed Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes winner Salouen.
His three-year-old son I Could Do Better is currently unbeaten in three starts.
