Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs made waves in the UK on Wednesday, when the son of Tagula was responsible for a pair of winners.

The former star miler’s first British winner yesterday came when his three-year-old son Clifftop got off the mark when scoring a facile three and a quarter length win in a six furlong handicap at Bellewstown.
Canford Cliffs’ second winner on Wednesday came when his 3yo son Blame It On Sally scored a courageous win over two miles at Kempton. The Sir Mark Prescott trained gelding has now won three of his nine starts, with Blame It On Sally having won or placed in each of his five starts in 2019.
Canford Cliffs, whose G1 Investec Coronation Cup runner up son Salouen holds an entry for the 2019 G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, could be on course for big race success this season.
His high-class son Cliff’s Edge is a leading contender for Saturday’s G1 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes, which will be run over 1400m at Caulfield this weekend.
His trainer Ciaron Maher said of his charge, “With any stallion, a Group 1 beside his name would give him a good after-life. I always thought the Toorak would be a nice race for him, but given how the prep’s gone and how well he went last start, it’s obviously a target for him. He’s made good improvement into his second run and I think he’s only improved again fitness-wise.
Obviously, he went great last start behind a very good horse (Mystic Journey) so with that horse not there, hopefully he can go one better and get that elusive Group 1 for himself.

He seems to really enjoy Caulfield. He’ll bowl along and put himself there.”
Another talented son of Canford Cliffs, Wall Of Fire, has been entered for both the 2019 G1 Lexus Melbourne Cup and 2019 G1 Stella Artois Caulfield Cup.
