Tuesday double for Rafeef

Ridgemont’s red hot resident sire Rafeef had two more winners at the Vaal on Tuesday.
The G1 Computaform Sprint winning son of Redoute’s Choice went close to having a treble on the day with Rafeef gelding Echoes Of War running second in the first race.

Rafeef’s first success on Tuesday came when his son Rafa Bay won the fifth race at the Vaal. One of two winners on the day for Tony Peter, the four-year-old dug down deep, under Savanna Valjalo, to land the Betway Summer Cup 29 November MR 80 Handicap (1000m) by a neck.
Bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, Rafa Bay, who races for Mr Deven Govender, Hyperpaint Syndicate and TKP Racing, has now won three times, with the gelding victorious in his last two starts.

Espinoza provided Rafeef with his second win on the card, when that Shaylen Naidoo trained gelding won Tuesday’s TAB 4Racing APP Mr 94 Handicap (1000m).
Under Girish Samo-Burthia, the four-year-old hit the front full of running and powered home to score by nearly a length and a quarter. Owned by Messrs Jace Chetty, Shaylen Naidoo & A V van der Poel , the Rietshuiskraal Stud bred Espinoza has won four of 13 starts.

One of South Africa’s most inform stallions, Rafeef also enjoyed success at the recent Two Year Old Sale, where his colt out of Charge’D Affaires was knocked down to Hollywoodbets for R800 000.
