Irish Champion and G1 winner Pathfork had a quick double at the Vaal on Thursday, with his daughters Charmz Luck and Promise winning races three and seven respectively.
Remarkably, Charmz Luck and Promise were Pathfork’s only runners on the card.
Trained by Candice Dawson, the lightly raced Charmz Luck broke her maiden in convincing style when the filly recorded a half length win over 1600m.
The Limestone Thoroughbred Trust bred filly had been third at each of her two previous outings, and was not winning out of turn.
Out of the Orientate mare Charmz, Charmz Luck was a R325 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Her paternal half-sister Promise gave Pathfork his second win on Thursday when that Paul Peter trained filly made it three wins in a row when romping home to a two and a quarter length win over 1500m. One of four winners on the day for jockey Warren Kennedy, the Willem Engelbrecht bred four-year-old has now won four times in total.
