Rafeef’s Shantastic Too Classy On Debut

Ridgemont Highlands’ sire sensation Rafeef came up with yet another very promising debut winner when his daughter Shantastic won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday afternoon.

Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, two-year-old Shantastic put up a smart performance to win Monday’s Catch KZN Racing via live streaming on www.galloptv.co.za Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1200 metres.

Under an inform Keagan De Melo, Shantastic came from well off the pace to get up close home and win going away by a long neck.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the promising filly is out of the Fort Wood mare Gain Ground.

Shantastic, who is the 14th two-year-old winner for Rafeef this season, was a R240 000 buy from the 2021 Cape Yearling Sale.

South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire for 2021-2022, Rafeef has had an outstanding season this year with his flagbearers headed by such G1 winners as Aragosta, Master Archie and Thunderstruck.

The G1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice has nine lots on offer at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale, including a full-sister (Lot 19) to G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes winner William Robertson.
