Rafeef filly impresses on debut

Ridgemont’s top-class stallion Rafeef has some very smart looking three-year-olds this season.
The G1 Computaform Sprint had another eye catching winner on Tuesday when his three-year-old daughter Ovation Star made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Trained by Mike and Mathew De Kock, Ovation Star turned the Bet With Tote Open Maiden (F and M) (1200m) into a one horse race.
The three-year-old raced midfield early on, before Callan Murray unleashed Ovation Star with 200m to run.
From there, the Rafeef filly romped away to score by six lengths.

Bred by Greenacres Trust in partnership with Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Ovation Star races for Hollywood Racing.
Ovation Star is out of the Var mare Targaryan, and is thus bred on the same Rafeef/Var cross as G1 winning sires Master Archie and Thunderstruck.
Tuesday’s winner was a R450 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale.

Her inform sire Rafeef has some very promising sophomores this season, with this rank including impressive debut winners Cognac, Drumnadrochit and Reet Petite, G2 TAB SA Nursery runner up Esteemed, and the unbeaten Easy Tiger.

The son of Redoute’s Choice has eight lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale later this month.
