Potala Palace mare Game At Greyville

Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 winning sire Potala Palace has made a notable impact on the South African tracks, despite limited opportunities, and the son of Singspiel had a smart winner at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.

His gutsy five-year-old daughter Snow Palace, one of the better two-year-old fillies of her year, showed plenty of heart when scoring over 1800 metres.

Under a fine ride from Craig Zackey, the Corne Spies trained grey fought back gamely in the closing stages of Wednesday’s race to win by a long neck.

Bred by Favouor Stud, Snow Palace has now five career victories to her name, and has earned nearly R500 000 in prize money.

Out of the Lecture mare White Oleander, Snow Palace began her career on a high, when winning over 1400m before finishing third, to champion Gabor, in the 2019 G1 Thekwini Stakes.

Her G1 Premiers Champion Stakes winning sire Potala Palace has seven lots on the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and a further six lots on the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale, including a filly (Lot 20) whose stakes placed dam is a half-sister to legendary stayer Stradivarius.
