Potala Palace colt wins on debut

Ridgemont’s G1 winning stallion Potala Palace looks to have a very promising two-year-old to his name in the form of Bourbon Warrior.

The latter made a big impression when he made a winning debut in open company at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

Trained by Yogas Govender, Bourbon Warrior stormed home down the inside of the track to get up and win the Bet With The Best Maiden Plate (1200m) by over three lengths.

The colt was ridden to victory by Nicholas Patel.

Bred by Normandy Stud, Bourbon Warrior is out of the Windrush mare Azarenka, and is thus bred on the same Potala Palace/Windrush cross as multiple graded stakes winner Katak.

Bourbon Warrior is the third two-year-old winner this season for Potala Palace, himself the winner of the G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes at two.

Potala Palace is also the sire of another promising two-year-old in the form of Family Law. The latter is set to contest the Listed East Cape Nursery this Friday.
