Highlands Stud’s leading sire Dynasty, who was responsible for the final feature race winner in South Africa for 2017, made the perfect start to 2018.
Not only is the former Horse Of The Year sire of the very first winner in the country for 2018, but Dynasty enjoyed a notable double at the first local meeting of the New Year.
Dynasty enjoyed a good double at Durbanville, and his son Dynasty’s Boy won the first race of 2018 when justifying tote favouritism in the first race, a maiden plate over 1250m.
Bred by Highlands Stud, Dynasty’s Boy had looked an unlucky loser when narrowly beaten at his previous outing and duly went one better on Monday to win at just the third time of asking.
Dynasty’s Boy, who was making his Durbanville debut yesterday, was a R2 700 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Dynasty is also responsible for pricey yearling purchase Dynasty’s Blossom, who romped home to score a breathtaking 5.5 length maiden win over 2000m on Monday. She has now won or placed in all five career outings.
The consistent 3yo filly, also bred by Highlands (in partnership with Mrs Jaffee) was a R4 500 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Four times Equus Champion sire Dynasty is the sire of over 50 stakes winners, with his notable performers including champions Beach Beauty, Bela-Bela, Futura, Irish Flame, Just Sensual, Lady In Black, and Legislate.
The champion has 12 lots on offer at this month’s January Cape Premier Yearling Sale including yearlings out of high-class racemares All Is Secret (Lot 187), Happy Archer (Lot 23), One Fine Day (Lot 86) and Princess Of Light (Lot110).
