Ridgemont Highlands’ multiple G1 winning sire Jackson looks to have a very classy three-year-old filly to his name in the form of Pretty Young Thing.

The latter, trained like her sire by Brett Crawford, made it win number three from just six outings when defying a poor draw to win as she liked at Durbanville on Saturday.
Under jockey Greg Cheyne, the Ridgemont Highlands bred and owned Pretty Young Thing outclassed some promising and well bred rivals to land a conditions plate, while being eased down, over 1250m by 1.75 lengths.

Her beaten opponents included talented stakes winners Canukeepitsecret and Too Phat To Fly, as well as Drama Queen –a short head second in last season’s Listed Perfect Promise Sprint.

A winner of three of her last four starts, Pretty Young Thing could run next in the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship at Kenilworth at the end of the month. (She is one of two Jackson daughters entered for that R350 000 feature, with debut winner Flame Tree being the other).

She is from the second crop of G1 Investec Cape Derby/G1 Champions Cup/G1 Daily News 2000 winner Jackson, whose first crop included such smart stakes performers as Can You Feel It, Mr Crumford, Action Jackson and Dynamite Jack.

Jackson went close to enjoying more success with a 3yo filly over the weekend when his daughter Jack’s Bird ran third in the Group Wreck International Non-Ferrous Beach Beauty Mile at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.

One of the very best sons of four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty (sadly now deceased), Jackson has two lots on offer at November’s CTS Ready To Run Sale –a three-parts brother (Lot 107) to the very talented Majestic Mozart, and a half-brother (Lot 163) to G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge hero Coral Fever.
