Ridgemont’s red hot resident sire Canford Cliffs was the toast of Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday.
Not only did Canford Cliffs’ unbeaten daughter Direct Hit win Saturday’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship, but the Ridgemont resident’s son Tenango scored an impressive win the same day’s G2 Golden Horse Sprint.
A last out winner of the G3 Champagne Stakes, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained four-year-old was well fancied to win Saturday’s R1 000 000 sprint and the gelding duly did so.
Under a confident ride from Andrew Fortune, the progressive Tenango powered home from off the pace to get up and win the 2025 Golden Horse Sprint by just under a length and a quarter.
Bred by his part-owner Ian Longmore, Tenango is out of the Trippi mare Tripadvisor.
The gelding has won six of his 14 starts.
Remarkably, Tenango has won or finished second in each of his last seven starts.
His five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs has enjoyed a big season in 2024-2025 with his other flagbearers including Listed Betway Swallow Stakes winner Almond Sea and Glenlair Trophy winner Bournemouth.
