Irish Champion, and G1 National Stakes winner, Pathfork has made a scintillating start to the new season.
The son of Distorted Humor enjoyed a quick feature race double on the first weekend of the 2018-2019 racing season –giving Pathfork the perfect start to the new racing season!

Pathfork

His first feature race winner over the past weekend came when his daughter Lucky Lulu captured the Wedgewood Handicap at Fairview on Friday.
Ridden by Shadlee Fortune for trainer Grant Paddock, the newly turned five-year-old sauntered home to an effortless 2.5 length win in Friday’s 2400m contest.
In the process, the Jagessar Limited bred filly took her tally of wins to four and her earnings to over R320 000.

The consistent mare, now a winner of her last two in a row, has won or placed in her last seven races.

Her sire doubled up when his four-year-old daughter Tweed Valley won the Betting World Sprint, over 1000m, on Saturday. Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the filly has now won or placed in ten of her 16 outings. Out of the Right Approach mare Brora, Tweed Valley was a R120 000 buy from the 2016 Val De Vie Yearling Sale.

Pathfork enjoyed a magnificent season in 2017-2018, and ended last season as South Africa’s fifth leading sire of 2yos, by stakes. His 10 winning two-year-olds last season included unbeaten G1 Allan Robertson Championship winner Mighty High and triple stakes winning filly Madame Speaker with both fillies appearing leading contenders for various awards in the upcoming weeks.

Pathfork, who is standing at the Sandown Stud this year, is well represented at this month’s National Two Year Old Sale. The champion has 13 lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale with his offering including a half-sister (Lot 37) to graded winners Dark Justice and Franny and G1 King’s Stand Stakes third Sweet Sanette, an own brother (Lot 134) to Madame Speaker, and a filly (Lot 311) out of a stakes placed daughter of outstanding sire Dynasty.
