Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs looks poised for a very bright future in South Africa.

Not only does Canford Cliff’s first local crop which are set to race next season include siblings to such high-class performers as Divine Jury, Invidia, Russian Sage, Running Brave, and Seville Orange, but the brilliant Irish classic winner covered another superb book last year.

Canford Cliffs, already the sire of more than 40 black type horses including talented South African gallopers Fish River and Dorset Noble, was bred to some exceptionally well bred mares last season, with his book including daughters of such outstanding stallions as Badger Land, Captain Al, Danehill Dancer, Dynasty, Western Winter and Var.

Among the high-class mares to have visited Canford Cliffs in 2020 were:

Crimson Blossom: A daughter of Danehill Dancer and directly descended from the influential broodmare Delsy, Crimson Blossom won seven times including the G3 Final Fling Stakes. At stud, Crimson Blossom has already produced a pair of stakes winners headed by G3 Gold Cup/G3 Gold Vase winner Dynasty’s Blossom.

Dancer’s Daughter: One of the finest racemares to have graced the South African turf in recent years, Dancer’s Daughter was South Africa’s Champion Older Female Miler in 2008 and Champion Older Female the following season. The charismatic grey’s five G1 wins included a memorable dead-heat in the 2008 G1 Vodacom Durban July.

A half-sister to the dam of this season’s talented two-year-old Rain In Holland and the smart Rain In Newmarket as well as to the dam of top sprinter Search Party, Dancer’s Daughter herself rates as the dam of Kings Cup winner Born To Perform.
