Ridgemont Highlands four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty, whose passing rocked the industry last month, produced the top-selling filly on an historic Day One of the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale and ended the buoyant first stretch as the second leading sire on aggregate.
The Drakenstein Stud-bred Kim Soo (#98), one of only five Dynasty daughters to sell on the day, is out of Gr1 winner Happy Archer (Dubawi). She was purchased by Form Bloodstock for R4,3-million.

Kim Soo was one of 12 Dynasty progeny to sell on Day 1 for an aggregate of R13 075 000, at an average R1 089 583.
A bid of R2,2 million secured the Dynasty full brother to SA Horse Of The Year and multiple Equus Champion Legislate – a four time Gr1 winner. Top owner Nic Jonsson was the buyer of the Cheveley Stud bred colt.
Two more Dynasty progeny sold over the million mark with lot 146, an Avontuur bred half-brother to 8 winners, 5 stakes winners, and three graded stakes winners – notably Equus Champion and multiple Gr1 winner Val De Ra, exported Gr3 winner Cue The Music, and retired millionaire Tevez, selling for R1,3 million. Winterbach Stud’s lot 177, another smashing Dynasty colt out of an SA Oaks winner cost R1,1 million.
Dynasty, with his sire Fort Wood, is one of only three stallions in the history of South African horseracing to celebrate three SA Horses of the Year and has produced over 60 stakes winners and more than 100 stakes horses in total – with his black type performers, including 15 individual Gr1 winners, and 28 Gr1 performers in total.
There are only three Dynasty’s to come – lots 198,201 and 212 – all coming up early in the remainder of session 1 on Day 2.
