Highlands Stud’s outstanding sire Dynasty looks to have a very smart filly to his name in the form of the Varsfontein Stud bred Hashtagyolo.
The latter made it three wins from as many outings when overcoming a muddled pace to win the G3 Flamboyant Stakes (the final feature race in South Africa for 2017) at Greyville on Sunday.
Trained by Dean Kannemeyer (who also trained Dynasty himself), Hashtagyolo romped to a facile two length win over high class older rival Sail in Sunday’s 1600m contest, with Australian bred filly Roy’s Riviera back in third.
Now a likely G1 prospect, Hashtagyolo had previously won the KZN Fillies Guineas Trial at her previous outing. The filly, a R1 100 000 purchase from the 2016 National Yearling Sale, is out of the winning Jallad mare My Guiding Star and is thus bred on the same Dynasty/Jallad cross as G1 winners It’s My Turn (Investec Cape Derby), Liege (Sansui Summer Cup) and Eyes Wide Open (Premiers Champion Stakes).
Hashtagyolo is the 53rd stakes winner for Dynasty, who is also responsible for former Flamboyant Stakes winner Olma.
She is one of four graded stakes winners produced in Dynasty’s current crop of 3yos, whose number also includes champion filly, and G1 Thekwini Stakes winner, Lady In Black.
Dynasty has enjoyed another superb year in 2017, with his runners winning all of the G1 Sansui Summer Cup, G1 Thekwini Stakes, G1 Premiers Champion Stakes, G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes, G1 Woolavington 2000 and G1 Maine Chance Farms Paddock Stakes, and the former Horse Of The Year will once again be represented at next weekend’s L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate meeting.
Dynasty champion Lady In Black takes her place in next Saturday’s G1 Cartier Paddock Stakes, while Dynasty’s sons African Night Sky and It Is Written contest the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate itself.
