Durban Dash One – Two For Rafeef

Ridgemont Highlands’ outstanding  young sire Rafeef’s great run of success in feature races continued at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday when Rafeef’s graded stakes winning son William Robertson and Master Archie finished first and second respectively in the Rising Sun Durban Dash (1100m).

Trained by Corne Spies, the talented William Robertson tracked the front running Faustino before powering away to score by nearly four lengths, under a confident ride from S’Manga Khumalo.

Rafeef’s G1 Computaform Sprint winning son Master Archie came from well back to finish second, but his paternal half-brother William Robertson looked a winner a long way out.

Dropping back in trip, William Robertson was fitted with blinkers to sharpen him up for Saturday’s race.

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, William Robertson, a member of his sire’s remarkable first crop, has now won four of 13 starts, with the gelded three-year-old having also previously won the G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes and Bloodstock SA Sales Cup.

Out of the Trippi mare Massachusett, William Robertson was a R500 000 buy from the 2020 National 2YO Sale.

His G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Rafeef has been in red hot form, with Rafeef also supplying last Saturday’s G1 Gold Medallion winner Thunderstruck and Sunday’s Listed TAB Perfect Promise Sprint queen Who Do You Love.
