Ridgemont Highlands’ triple G1 winning stallion Jackson came to the fore at Fairview on Friday, when the son of Ridgemont Highlands’ late, great sire Dynasty had a smart looking debut winner. Jackson’s three-year-old son Go Goodfellow caught the eye when scoring a cosy half length win, at the first time of asking, when victorious over 1200m on Friday afternoon.
The colt is trained by Alan Greeff and he was ridden to victory by Greg Cheyne. Bred and owned by the Wicklow Stud, Go Goodfellow was produced by the Captain Al mare Take Command. His sire Jackson made an encouraging start with his first runners including G1 filly Can You Feel It, Cape Of Good Hope Nursery third Mr Crumford, East Cape Guineas runner up Dynamite Jack, and the stakes placed Heaven’s Embrace. A half brother to G3 winning sprinter Jade Bay and full-brother to G3 Byerley Turk winner Heartland, Jackson hails from the immediate family of multiple champion sire Smart Strike –whose son Lookin At Lucky is the sire of this year’s Kentucky Derby winner Country House.
Jackson (himself a former National 2YO Sale graduate) has 11 lots on this month’s National 2YO Sale, including a half-sister (Lot 75) to the stakes placed filly Klever Kathy, a colt (Lot 145) out of East Cape Fillies Nursery winner Haizi, and a half-brother (Lot 366) to 3 stakes winners, whose dam is a daughter of champion Olympic Duel. – Cape Breeders Club
