Daisy Blooms At Turffontein

Ridgemont Highlands’ five time G1 winning sire Canford Cliffs pulled further clear on South Africa’s Leading First Season Sires List for 2021-2022 this weekend.

Not only did Canford Cliffs’  daughter Totally Rocks win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday, a pair of Canford Cliffs fillies finished first and second in open company at Turffontein the following day.

Canford Cliffs’ two-year-old Daisy Buchanan stamped herself a filly to follow when she made an impressive, winning debut at Turffontein on Sunday.

Under Jarryd Penny, the Ridgemont Highlands bred and owned filly stormed home to land Sunday’s 4Racing.TV Maiden Plate (1000m) by two and a quarter lengths.

The race was a triumph for Canford Cliffs, with his daughter Rose Velvet finishing second to the Ashley Fortune trained Daisy Buchanan.

Out of the Makaarem mare Lavish Gal, Daisy Buchanan is the 11th winner to have emerged from the first South African bred and born crop of Canford Cliffs.

Canford Cliffs, one of the finest milers of the century, is currently responsible for more than 20 stakes winners with his progeny having earned over R354,020,719 00 in stakes.
