Canford Cliffs – The Sire On Fire!

In the space of just five days, Canford Cliffs came up with a hugely impressive debut winner in the form of Body Electric, who looks destined for black type racing – as well as Saturday’s dazzling Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Cliff Top.

Canford Cliffs’ sensational start to his South African stud career has seen the son of Tagula emerge as the country’s Leading First Season Sire of 2021/2022, with Canford Cliffs also currently sitting third on the Leading Sires of 2YOs log.

His two-year-old daughter Body Electric put up one of the most impressive performances by a two year old debutant in South Africa this season when she sauntered home to win by five lengths. The Ridgemont Highlands bred filly sports a pedigree which suggests she can only get better over more ground, making Body Electric a very exciting prospect indeed.

Canford Cliffs’ son Cliff Top, who broke the Fairview course record when second on debut, stamped himself as one of the best two year old prospects this season when making all the running to win Saturday’s Summer Juvenile Stakes on the WSB Met Day.

Both Body Electric and Cliff Top look destined for bigger and better things, and with a number of other well-bred and promising two-year-olds yet to grace the racecourse, the future looks very bright indeed for Canford Cliffs.

It is worth noting that looking back at the last seven racing seasons for first season sires, no stallion by this time in the season had produced a juvenile stakes winner. It is extremely pleasing to see just how well the progeny of Canford Cliffs have hit the ground running.
