Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s well performed new stallion Canford Cliffs could be represented by a runner in one of the world’s most prestigious races –the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Salouen

Run over 2400m race at Ascot on July 28th, the King George has been won by some of the greatest horses in history, with past winners including Mill Reef, Brigadier Gerard, Nijinsky II, Dancing Brave, Shergar, Montjeu and Galileo.

Canford Cliffs could be represented in this legendary race by his high class son Salouen.

The latter, who has won or placed in 12 of 17 outings, nearly caused a major upset when only going down by a head when second to the talented Cracksman in the 2018 G1 Investec Coronation Cup.

One of the best of his generation at two, Salouen had been runner up in both the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and G3 TCA Abu Dhabi Solario Stakes as a juvenile, and the four-year-old has already banked nearly £300 000 in stakes.

His sire Canford Cliffs has enjoyed another good year in 2018 thus far, with his feature race winners including Cliff’s Edge (G2 Alister Clark Stakes) and Fish River (G3 Three Troikas Stakes).

The five time G1 winning son of Tagula was an exceptional racehorse and was Europe’s Champion Older Miler in 2011.
