Ridgemont’s G1 winning Singspiel horse Potala Palace had a good day at Turffontein on Saturday.
Not only did Potala Palace filly Twostep Queen win Saturday’s Listed Allied Steelrode Yellowwood Handicap (1800m) but Potala Palace mare Palace Of Dreams is the dam of Saturday’s eye catching debut winner Grand Empire.
The St John Gray bred, owned and trained Twostep Queen received a fine, front running ride from Sean Veale to land the Yellowwood Handicap.
Veale kept his mount going in front, as the four-year-old stayed on to claim her biggest win to date by three and a quarter lengths.
Now a five time winner from 23 starts, Twostep Queen is out of the Jam Alley mare Dance Alley. Twostep Queen is a full-sister to promising three-year-old Palace Prince, who ran fifth in Saturday’s G3 Betway Graham Beck Stakes.
Potala Palace is also the sire of G3 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Palace Of Dreams, whose three-year-old son Grand Empire (by Vercingetorix) won the first race at Turffontein on Saturday.
The inform G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winner, whose daughter Queen Braganza made it two wins from two starts on Friday, is also closely related to Saturday’s eye catching winner Lost For Words (by Canford Cliffs). The latter, winner of two of just four starts, is out of Potala Palace’s half-sister Allegoria, a two time winner who ran second in the G3 Premio Verziere.
