Ridgemont’s star stallion Rafeef, fresh off enjoying a graded stakes double last weekend, struck again on Saturday.
Rafeef’s high-class three-year-old daughter Mon Petit Cherie claimed the second graded win of her career when she won the G2 World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas (1600m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Trained by Brett and James Crawford, Mon Petit Cherie made it win number three wins from eight starts when prevailing in a thrilling finish to Saturday’s R500 000 feature for three-year-old fillies.
Under a well judged ride from Richard Fourie, the daughter of Rafeef kept finding to prevail by a hard-fought near half a length.
Bred by her part-owners Ridgemont, Mon Petit Cherie had claimed the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship earlier in the season and prior to her Fillies Guineas win had finished third in the G3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap.
Out of the Galileo mare Exotic, Mon Petit Cherie is bred on the same Rafeef/Galileo cross as graded stakes winners Aragosta and Mrs Browning.
Her G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire has had a wonderful season with Rafeef’s other stars this season including G1 TAB Computaform Sprint winner William Robertson and fellow graded stakes winners Chasing Happiness, Mai Sensation, and Outlaw King.
