Ridgemont’s five time G1 winning stallion Canford Cliffs came up with his first G1 winner when his unbeaten daughter Direct Hit won the G1 Allan Robertson Championship (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday.
The Alan Greeff trained two-year-old was sent off a 56-100 tote favourite for Saturday’s R1 000 000 and duly obliged.
Under champion jockey Richard Fourie, who has ridden Direct Hit in all of her starts, Direct Hit was always travelling powerfully in the Allan Robertson Championship.
Hitting the front with ease, Direct Hit coasted home to score a deceptively easy just over a length win.
Bred by Ridgemont, Direct Hit has won all four of her career starts, with the filly also victorious in this season’s G3 SplashOut Cape Of Good Hope Nursery and Listed East Cape Nursery.
Direct Hit, who is out of the Great Britain mare Wrecking Ball, was one of two runners in the 2025 Allan Robertson Championship for her sire Canford Cliffs.
She is one of 29 stakes winners for Canford Cliffs, whose daughters also include such group/graded stakes winners as Al Jazi, Crystal Cliffs, Fish River, La Falaise,Jin Jin and Simply Majestic.
The son of Tagula is also the sire of Mr Fox, who made it back to back wins when he romped home to score by nearly five lengths at Fairview on Friday.
